ABOUT KALYMNOS

Kalymnos belongs to the Dodecanese and is located in the south-eastern Aegean Sea, between the islands of Kos and Leros. It is about 20 kilometres long and has 18,000 inhabitants.

The island is known as the “The sponge divers’ island” and is the centre of the Greek sponge-diving industry, an activity which dates back to the Antiquity.

For centuries, this ongoing tradition has shaped the island’s identity and contributed significantly to its financial prosperity and social development while helping it achieve worldwide fame.
